We obviously have different experiences that
changed our lives and sometimes, when we go back and find the lesson from that
experiences, the price is that, we rarely lets us down when we encounter the
same event. But sometimes, its very tough to learn because of pride? Sometimes,
we always believe that we are right all the time. "i'm
right and you're wrong." attitude.
I remember when my big brother scolded me like crazy when i was 11... lolz..
THAT very moment, i learned a lot.. the part that sometimes, the urge of
defending yourself will nearly always get embroiled or involved? in
conflict.
It's really good to always
try to remind myself that when someone is criticizing me, its trying to tell me
something important, and that, on some level, its always RIGHT...
arrrgggghhhhh!!! lolz.. It took a while for me to understand what does
LISTENING CAREFULLY actually means. The very frist time, i set foot in
Cambodia, (12 years ago - first foreign country i first stepped in). There were
lot of things that i didn't understand but slowly when i opened up my senses,
picture's are becoming so clear. I've learned that there's a fine line between
UNDERSTANDING and GAINING the real meaning of "WISDOM." Sometimes, it
makes me smile when i hear people say, I know what WISDOM means! I just shut it
and listen carefully to what its saying rather than dwelling on the part that
seems distorted or unfair.
At the end of the day, i guess the best part when
people criticise you is that, it wakes that sleeping wisdom in you. Perhaps its
TRUE or NOT but since we are equipped with wisdom, we acknowledge that
criticism in a friendly way, handling with humility and self-respect. I've
learned and convinced that there's always a great deal of truth in any
criticism. Of course, its normal, that your initital reaction when you hear
criticism is getting angry or upset because you are hurt and sometimes push you
to attack or fight back. BUT if we acknowledge the truth in it. I think, we
will eventually find that a criticism is also a wake up call. Forget about the
people who throw criticism to you, just look and try to understand who they
are, instead.
I am not a perfect person
and yes, nobody is perfect and that leads me to learning, up to now. I've also
learned that WISDOM and PRIDE actually goes together sometimes, YOU will have a
hard time gaining wisdom IF you don't understand what PRIDE means. Honestly, i
know its embarrasing but we just need to swallow our pride sometimes. I swallow
my pirde when its needed and it feels great! Once you get used to it, it clears
your path and it makes you feel good. It will take a while but like what they
say... better TRY than never....
"When I refrain from
doing to others that which I hate to be done to me."- Uknown... -
that is being wise sometimes....
